Tokens and billing
How does pricing work?
You buy tokens and use them only when you issue an invoice. Issuing (moving an invoice from Draft to Ready) uses 10 tokens. 1,000 tokens cost £10 (€11.80), so each issued invoice costs 10p. There is no subscription and tokens don’t expire.
What uses tokens?
Only issuing an invoice, which uses 10. Drafts, previews, templates, PDF downloads and emails of issued invoices are free.
Is drafting free?
Yes. Save as many drafts as you like and preview them in any template. Tokens are used once, when you issue the invoice.
How do I top up?
Online payments are paused for now. Contact support with the amount you need and we’ll add the tokens to your account by hand.
Where can I see my balance and history?
On your dashboard. Token history lists every top-up and every issued invoice, with the balance after each one. Online top-ups have a receipt there.
Do you charge VAT on top-ups?
No VAT is added. The price you see is the price you pay.
Can I get a refund?
If you buy as a consumer, you can cancel a top-up within 14 days as long as none of its tokens have been used. Tokens already used for issued invoices aren’t refundable.

Invoices and VAT
Which VAT treatments are supported?
Domestic (your local rates), Intra-EU B2B (reverse charge, 0%), UK to EU (zero-rated) and Export (outside the UK and EU, 0%). You choose one per invoice and the rates fill in on each line.
How do I add a reverse charge note?
Choose “Intra-EU B2B” as the VAT treatment. The reverse charge wording is printed on the PDF for you. Add your VAT number and your client’s as well.
Can I change an invoice after issuing it?
No. Once issued, an invoice’s content is locked and only its status can change (for example to Sent or Paid). This stops a paid invoice being rewritten into another one. If something is wrong, issue a corrected invoice and tell your client which one replaces it.
How are invoices numbered?
Automatically, in order, and never repeated: INV, the year, then a running number. A number is reserved when you first save a draft or issue an invoice. You can’t set your own prefix or number.
Which currencies can I invoice in?
Pounds sterling (GBP) and euros (EUR).

PDFs and email
How do I email an invoice?
Issue it first. Then choose “Email to client” in the generator, or open the invoice from your dashboard. We send the email with the PDF attached. Emailing is free.
Can I download a PDF?
Yes, for any issued invoice, as often as you like and at no cost. Drafts can be previewed on screen but not downloaded.
Can I change the template?
Yes. There are three layouts (Plain, Ledger and Stub) and you can switch before or after issuing. The figures, VAT wording and invoice number stay the same.
Can I add my logo?
Yes. Upload it under “Your details” in the generator (PNG, JPG, SVG or WebP). It’s saved with your company details and used on your next invoices.

Account and data
How is my data looked after?
Your account, company details and invoices are kept in our database and only travel over encrypted connections. Each invoice is visible only to you. The privacy policy explains what we keep and for how long.
Do you keep card numbers?
No. We never see or store card numbers. Online payments are paused for now, so top-ups go through support.
How do I delete my account?
Email info@paperstub.com from the address you signed up with and we’ll delete it. We keep invoice and payment records where the law requires it, for example for tax.
